“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Baptism is an important step for every follower of Jesus, Christians have been doing it for thousands of years, ever since Jesus set the example himself. At our baptism we have our new name/identity spoken over us; as a disciple of Jesus we are now God’s Family of Servant Missionaries sent to make disciples.
Baptism serves as a mile marker on our journey, giving us a point in time to look back on and remember the moment Jesus changed our lives forever. It also serves as a public declaration of our new identity in Jesus; going down into the water symbolizes our death to our old life and coming up out of the water symbolizes our new life in Jesus!
Even if you were baptized as an infant, we’ll baptize you again because this time it’s your choice.
